In May of 2023, the Sanctuary Working Group hosted a breakfast to invite those in our community to come forward and get involved in immigrant advocacy work in light of Governor Abbott’s forcible displacement of tens of thousands of people from the Southern Border into Sanctuary Cities like Chicago. This breakfast featured some of our participants bravely sharing their stories, while some organizations had tables with more information about their work, and SWG leadership shared specific ways that Chicagoans could - and should - get involved.

This breakfast activated our community to get involved as hosts, donors, and advocates.
