Chicago

  • ICIRR held their Health Info webinar/explainer on Weds and Thurs of last week.

  • In support our nonprofit clients and community partners who are working tirelessly to advance race equity, secure economic opportunity, and strengthen their communities during challenging times, Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and the law firm Jenner & Block are teaming up to provide a FREE legal assessment focused on governance, compliance, and risk assessment for non profits. These clinics will be held virtually the afternoon of August 6. If you cannot make that date, a limited number of consultations can be held up to 10 days after the clinic.

    • During these consultations, we will review your nonprofit's structure and organizational documents, board operations, financial management, and operations policies. Please let us know if you’d like a DEI risk assessment. It should take about an hour.

      • WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Board members, officers, and executive directors of organizations working to strengthen their communities. Organizations must have 501(c)(3) public charity status and be in operations, currently conducting activities or providing services. Please note that at least one person from your organization must attend the consultation virtually, since the volunteer attorneys will be using a screen sharing feature in the virtual meeting room, although cameras need not be on. Please contact Angela Dear (adear@clccrul.org) with questions about this requirement or for accommodation requests.

      • TO REGISTER: Please submit the registration form by July 31 for the August clinic. You will need to collect specific documents (board list, 990, articles, bylaws, etc.) one week prior to the clinic. Space is very limited - sign up soon!
